Belly Dance - taught by Nilce Alvarez

Belly dancing is intended for any person male or female at any age, yes! ANY AGE obviously to the extent possible. That is one of belly dancing's most important and attractive appeals. As to the format of the class, for start we will practice basic steps and move every part of the body used in belly dancing: head, shoulders, arms, hands, chest, belly, hips, knees and feet. After awhile, each student will be able to perform a solo. Once this point is reached, the dancer will follow his/her formation, each time with more advanced rhythmologies and the specific instrument used for a particular kind of music, culminating each stage with a choreography built with her (or them) and me. She/he will learn every oriental and occidental belly dancing style, origin and intention of the kinds of rhythms of study in order to obtain a complete knowledge. Dancing is not all about learning a couple of steps, is it? Apart from learning the dancing moves, and being involved with another cultural world, this class is intended for having the best time and to relax and de-stress. We are going to have so much fun!

 

Attire: Wear comfortable clothing you can move in, and bring a hip scarf that jingles! Barefoot is best, but jazz or ballet shoes are okay too.
